"Live Internal Vital Eternity"

I've always wanted to help the less fortunate but I have had a negative take on sending out things like money, clothes or even food to major charities. Every time I decided to contribute the disturbing thought of where the stuff actually goes always comes to mind. So one I decided to visit one of the local homeless shelters in Brooklyn New York, Located on Atlantic Avenue and Bedford Avenue it stands tall overlooking the BedStuy area. A massive structure like no other, it's known to be one of the biggest shelters in the New York City area, housing up to hundreds of the less fortunate.

Earlier that day, I had decided to print some shirts to give out or even donate to a local charity, little did I know I would end up proving my self right. After hours of work I finally arrived at the shelter. Feeling un welcomed from the time I stepped in the door I was greeted by "Can you please put your bag on the scanner”. Confused I proceeded to explain the situation, why I was there and the goal that I was trying to accomplish.

Making the attempt to personally distribute the pieces seemed impossible to the workers. Turned down by the security guard and her fellow officers, I was giving one option that was leaving the clothes on a chair in the hallway and giving one to the female worker at the desk. Turned off by this, I figured why not make the extra effort to make sure the clothing gets to those who are in need and so it begun.

Hitting the streets of Brooklyn New York with my childhood friend Bryan, the everlasting journey of creating balance had officially begun. An experience like no other the feeling of helping the ones who have some how paved the way for us was pretty much overwhelming. Leaving you with this thought; unfortunate but true, one thing I noticed was when you have nothing to give everyone asks but when it's time to give no ones around why is that?

Where Do I Begin?

The Lives we live are nothing but untold stories waiting to be told. Every day we live for the next and forget that it takes a matter of seconds for a life to fade away. It's sad to say that today in our communities lives are lost because of ignorance and straight out foolery. A few days ago three earthquakes hit the city of port of prince Haiti, totally leveling a city of great minds and positive hearts; killing thousands. One of the poorest countries in the world we ask ourselves " Why? ", " Why Haiti? Is there a big red button somewhere trying to control the earth’s population or is this just an act from the one we call mother nature. The events that occurred in Haiti doesn't have a direct effect on my life or on my family, but when looked at on a personal level it has showed me that my efforts for helping those who I don't know shouldn't be taken for granted. A few days ago I was given the chance to view the movie " Avatar", Artistic and great in every aspect there were many different message that one could pull from the storyline. The strongest message i received came at the end of when they discussed that Pandora was just on big living energy source. I have a strong belief in energy and the positive and negative signals which we give off as human beings ultimately has a major effect on the cycle of our planet.

The death toll in Haiti is now about 100,000 unfortunate lives. Our planet earth is making a statement and it's unfortunate that lives have to be lost to prove a point. Good hearts, let's create a balance by helping someone else. At this stage in my life I don't have the ability offer thousands of dollars to a major NPO or cause; so I have started my own. Blessed, today I have created an outlet for those who want their voice be heard. To my family and friends our words of faith may not deliver pounds of food or clothing over to Haiti, but it's the strongest tool we have as human beings in times of devastation. As I sit and write this message to those who choose to read my thoughts, my heart goes out to all of my Haitians friends, their families and those affected.

Always remember life is short, live it out to the fullest and show someone you love them. Express your thoughts in an Email and send it to Triple L Society At L.I.V.E . I will be sure to post them on the L.I.V.E Project page. (Every Form or art will be accepted).

MY HEART FOR HAITI

The Haiti Earthquake was, so clearly, a heartbreaking event. I cannot imagine the pain and worry that has overwhelmed the affected people over the days that have passed since the tragedy—nor could I imagine the harm that has been done to the people in Haiti and to the land itself. Thankfully, I and my family were in no way directly impacted by this, but are hurt to know that people were put in such a horrible situation. I hate that these things happen in the world…and though it’s unrealistic, I sometimes wish on the largest stars that these kinds of things would stop happening.

Aside from how grieved I am that innocent lives were taken in this disastrous moment in time, I am, more than anything, unselfishly inspired to do something for myself.

As someone who hates the mere THOUGHT of violence, disease, and suffering people, I want to become a person who can (especially in times like these) be an extensively significant contribution to making things better. I think many of us are sad when we see these kinds of tragedies (like the earthquake in Haiti) because we feel bad for the people, but also because of how little we can do to help them. I’m not saying that our contributions are trivial, but that the bit we can do to help individually may not compare to the harm that has been done. I’m sure I don’t speak for myself when I say that I really wish I could do more than donate clothes and $5 to the people in Haiti who don’t even have water to drink or food to eat because of something that was 100% out of their control.

My only regret is not doing this sooner, but I have made a promise to myself to be someone who is committed financially and physically to helping others. There’s an unexplainable fulfillment that comes from giving and helping other people who need it. A lot of us are fortunate enough to have been free from these ordeals that life hands to people, so I feel that part of our purpose is to take advantage of our “able” bodies and minds to be a part of the solutions.

It has been a while since we have seen a legitimately tragic natural disaster…at least one of this degree. And though I would never wish such a catastrophe on any population, the ability our world has to unite for a cause not only astounds me, but leads me to truly realize this:

We need each other to solve the problems of our world. When one person cannot do for themselves…someone else MUST help them. We are all brothers and sisters and can live without foolishness like violent wars if we are diligent to acknowledging each other as such.

My prayers are with anyone who has been affected by this calamity. If you are reading this… never fail to know that God is with you every step of the way.

Much Love, Lauren Legato

"Haiti" by Nicolette Harrington

Haiti.

Cries of the people
Scream for help
Covered by the rubble,
Pain and despair.

Hard to breathe,
Hard to hear,
If found alive living in a world of fear.

Why did nobody notice?
Why did nobody say a word?
When Haiti was in a state of corruption and lies
When money was slowly slipping away?
When they became one of the poorest countries in the world?

I cry when I see
Bodies being dragged,
Blood, Sweat Tears
All for a country they love
All for a country they believed in.

Mother Nature
You can not be controlled.
Understanding that God created you,
But not understanding why that happened?

But I pray,
Pray for better days.
Pray that the gloom will fade away.
And in a place where materialistic things are not in the forefront.
Smiles form again
Kids will play
People will enjoy the place they live in today.....

Haiti.

A Few Days Ago I attended The Life Project For Africa event "Fall '09 Gala Fund Fundraiser".

Here in this small room above "Ben And Jacks " restaurant gather a group of well-known people from all around the country; With one goal in mind: to support health care, irrigation and literacy in Africa. The auctions for the night was a replica Batmobile, the Green Hornet's Black Beauty, a Rolls Royce Phantom, and a Bentley flying spur. Although I didn't have a camera at hand, I found some of these pictures form the event floating around the Internet.

In closing, I want to say it was a great pleasure meeting everyone and yes I support the "Life Project For Africa". Learn more and support the foundation.

The L.I.V.E Project "Part one the creation"

Yesterday I woke with the idea of giving away all of my unused pieces to the needy, How? I didn't know, when on the other hand "As soon as possible". Turning to the World Wide Web I decided to do some research on foundations around New York City that would possibly accept the clothes and put it to good use? Eager to find a place I twittered about the situation and got a few answers, but not enough for me to come up with a final decision.

Personally note: I strongly believe that many of the NPO's out there are frauds, with a strong belief I decided to go out on my own in search of some people in need

The short story behind the brand Triple L Society; Starting off as just a hobby and a money maker during my late high school years, Triple L society has grown into something like no other. At a young age custom tees and hooded sweatshirts never paid so well, the feeling of coming home with about two hundred a week, sooner than later led to the creation of the life style clothing brand that I now call Triple L Society. As the time passed and the followers grew, my love for fashion and connection between myself and Triple L became inseparable. In the early stages homemade silk screens and wholesale shirts were combined to create my works of art. Learning on my own i created a unique style that led to new ideas at the pull of the squeegee.

Passing on the torch a few years later I introduced the little ones to the art. Deciding to not only give away the clothing, but to donate something special and from the heart, I fashioned together my team of extraordinary little hands to help create. Lawrence Triple L Society
